Aiosell vs RoomPriceGenie for Small Independent Hotels

5 min read

RoomPriceGenie is probably the closest match to Aiosell in who it’s aimed at. It’s a Swiss company, founded in 2019, and describes itself as built for the independent hotelier, with a sweet spot of roughly 5 to 60 rooms. Aiosell also serves small and mid-size independents, which is why the two get compared so often. They’re also priced in a way that suits small properties, which isn’t true of every revenue tool on the market. The difference is the shape of the product. RoomPriceGenie is a focused pricing tool. Aiosell puts pricing inside a bigger platform with a channel manager, booking engine and property management system. I’ve pulled RoomPriceGenie details from Capterra and similar listings, where some of the reviews are old, so check anything important with the company. I’ll also say where my information is thin, because a comparison that pretends to know everything isn’t much use to a hotel owner with a deadline. Aiosell details are from aiosell.com.

Focused tool or whole platform

RoomPriceGenie can run as a hands-off pricing manager or let you set prices manually. Its listing mentions competitor price tracking, forecasting, machine learning, market data analysis and pricing reports, and the interface comes in Dutch, English, German and Spanish. Reviewers on Capterra said it was easy to use, that support answered quickly, and that price suggestions seemed accurate. One said it helped them raise RevPAR by lifting occupancy. Aiosell’s revenue management system can also run alongside your existing PMS or channel manager, or inside its all-in-one suite. So even though they overlap on pricing, you’re really choosing whether you want a single-purpose tool that plugs into what you have, or a platform that replaces several things at once. Neither is wrong. A hotel with a solid PMS and a channel manager that works doesn’t need to rip anything out. A hotel that’s tired of three logins might.

Controls and the day-to-day feel

Small hotels usually want one thing from pricing software: be smart, but don’t let it embarrass me. RoomPriceGenie reviewers said they could override prices and set minimums and maximums, and that it saved time updating rates across OTAs. One motel owner noted it works best when you have truly comparable competitors, and theirs didn’t. That’s an honest warning that applies to any tool leaning on market data. Aiosell gives you the same basics, a minimum and maximum for each room and rate plan plus date-specific overrides, and adds a linear occupancy scale, a booking window from 7 days to 2 years, and adjustments by weekday, month and season. It can also overbook lower-category rooms automatically. The market-data side matters less if your hotel is unusual. For a guesthouse with a unique setting, your own booking history tells you more than a list of hotels that aren’t really like you.

Connections and what you still need to buy

RoomPriceGenie’s listing doesn’t name specific PMS integrations, though one reviewer said price changes reached their PMS right away, so ask which systems it supports and whether the link is live. That matters because a pricing-only tool still needs somewhere to send rates, which means you need a PMS or channel manager already working. Aiosell’s pricing tool can connect to a PMS, a channel manager, or both. If you don’t have a channel manager yet, you can run it inside the platform and push rates instantly to Booking.com, Airbnb, Expedia, Agoda and others through the Aiosell channel manager. Count the whole stack when you compare, not only the pricing line. Include your PMS, your channel manager and any booking engine you pay for separately. That’s where small hotels get surprised. Ask each vendor to write out the full monthly cost for your room count, with every module you’d need, and compare the totals on one page.

The real cost for a 25-room hotel

Capterra lists RoomPriceGenie starting from US$119, with a free trial, though its own page also mentions rooms priced from $95 a month, so confirm the current figure with them. Prices shown on review sites are often out of date. That’s the pricing tool alone. Aiosell’s Revenue Pro is billed per room per month, $7 up to 10 rooms, $6 for 11 to 30, $5 for 31 to 50, and $4 above that. At 25 rooms, that’s about $150 a month, and it includes the channel manager, booking engine and reviews management as well as the pricing. So the two numbers aren’t directly comparable. If you already have a channel manager you’re happy with, the pricing-only route may be cheaper. If you don’t, add up the full stack. The pricing page has the current numbers.

Making the call

Start by listing what you already pay for and what you’d like to drop. Include the small things, like a separate subscription for reviews or a booking page plug-in. If your PMS and channel manager are fine, and you only want smarter rates, try RoomPriceGenie’s trial and Aiosell’s side-by-side for two or three weeks. If you’re juggling vendors, or you’re about to switch systems anyway, a single platform may save you time and invoices. In both cases, compare the suggested rates with what you’d have charged, watch occupancy and ADR for a few months, and keep a short log of every manual override. After a month, that log shows whether you actually trust the software, and trust is what makes you keep using it. If you find yourself checking every price before it goes out, the tool isn’t saving you time yet. Give it a few more weeks before you decide, though, since early prices are usually the roughest.

Aiosell suits small hotels that want pricing, a channel manager, and a property management system under one login, with a published price per room and a 15-day free trial. Its website claims AI pricing can lift revenue by around 30%, and one client says they’ve seen 20 to 50% more, but those are the company’s and a customer’s own figures, so measure your own. If a focused pricing tool fits your setup better, that’s a perfectly good answer too.
